About Park Group
Greenhill Gardens, Weymouth, has been recognised as one of the country’s best green spaces.

Green Flag Awards recognise and reward the best parks in the country and Greenhill Gardens stood out after impressing the judges with their excellent use of green space, well-maintained facilities and high standard of safety and security.

This is the 5th consecutive year that Greenhill Gardens has been recognised for the award. Only green spaces that are free to enter and open to the public are eligible to win an award through the scheme, which is run by environmental charities Keep Britain Tidy, BTCV and GreenSpace.
The Gardens were originally part of the Wilton Estate and were gifted to the Council in 1902 for "the benefit of the inhabitants of Weymouth." FOGG Committee Member Iain Campbell researched the legal position of the Gardens in July 2006. It was at a time when the Council were considering plans to erect a large Restaurant on the tennis courts in the Gardens. This plan was received with almost universal dismay. It was subsequently shelved. The letter does give a good insight to the legal position in respect of the Gardens.
